You can absolutely work on your laptop here! We have outlets under the bar and at all of the tables that are next to walls, and we have reliable WiFi.
Just black coffee, no espresso machine.
It’s a food and drink minimum. It’s not strictly enforced to the penny, but it’s an expectation that people won’t just squat for hours without being paying customers.
Yes
Yes, the kitchen is open until 2 am every night.
This is a place to ask people who use Google. It's not the pub's site. That said, they have nooks which would probably work and could use the business.
A fun place to relax, read, have some drinks, a bite to eat, and kill an hour or two. Outside patio seating too.
A perfect spot for meeting up with friends or just enjoying a book by yourself. Friendly staff and the food is so delicious!
Little space, lots of cozy. This is a library meets cafe meets bar. Good anytime of day kind of food, tons of books, possibly spoken word nights, board games, a berry cobbler to sing about. Seating that provides everyone separate spaces even though they're close together, fast and friendly service. Nothing but praise for this socially conscious space.
This place is an instant Portland classic. It's really just the best place ever to get some work done, catch up with a friend, or browse a fascinating collection of used books. Incredibly kid friendly, and also an impressive tap list. And the food is pretty good too! A real credit to the neighborhood.
Quiet, low key bar. Great book selection and not overpriced (like the place next door is)
The beer is amazing and the book selection was so good. It's a great place to come and relax for hours. I do with there was more group seating, but it was amazing.
It’s the neighborhood’s living room. ❤️ We love coming here with our kiddo. They have homey, yummy food, and books and games to borrow. It’s a cozy and comfortable place to spend an afternoon/evening, often with good music to listen to.
Adorable and super cozy place, great taps and wonderful old library kitsch asthetic. Book selection is great!
This place offers everything. Books, writing groups, live music, trivia night, healthy food with gluten free and vegan options. Elise purveys a vast selection of wonderful ciders, beers and kombuchas on tap. It's a warm inviting cozy place that is NOT a meat market yet is full of amazing people. This place is my home away from home.
Maybe one of the coolest bookstores in existence! You can have a cocktail and browse a well curated selection of used books. The owner is also super cool and kind!
Went for Cram comedy show on Sunday. Loved the show and the pub. Good beers on tap. Great ambiance! I could definitely work from here or have fun meeting up with a friend/s and maybe play a board game.
Best theme bar in PDX by a mile! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about both books and brews and makes you feel right at home. So whether you are looking for a place to sit back and read or looking to find your new favorite book this is the place to go. Make sure to check out the Bone Tax Poem Club on the 3rd Thursday of every month at 8pm for readings by great local and regional poets.
This place always makes me feel warm, no I don't mean the good drinks, I mean it helps but the atmosphere and wealth of books always makes me feel good. Staff are awesome. Keep an eye on their calendar for cool going ons!
Clever place for a book club meeting.
Just an excellent place all around. Great selection of craft beer, good snacks, friendly staff, and comfy chairs and couches for reading.
Great vibe, friendly service and fantastic beer selection. Perfect place to study or grab a drink with a friend.
A nice place to enjoy your favorite book or just quietly get some work done. Great brew, delicious food and also live readings and jazz. Such a fun place to chill.
It’s everything I hoped it would be. Quaint, charming, excellent food and drinks, lovely staff, cozy atmosphere. I wouldn’t have hated a bit of background music, perhaps some Madeleine Peyroux or something similar to match the vibe, but other than that, I cannot wait to return.
Cute aesthetic for sure. If you want to spend $15 on microwaved food (seriously do not order the chicken), beer poured with too much head, and staff that will judge you for not ordering an IPA - this is the place for you. In
Amazing pub/used book store. Good food and drinks. Does a fun trivia night every Wednesday evening. Owner and staff are genuinely friendly people. Can't wait to go back
A unique setup for a pub and bookstore that hosts events. They have local brews, ciders, and a small food menu. I’d like to try some food next time I’m there. They have board games to play as well.
Great place to eat and study. Play games, buy books
I was expecting this place to be nicer and better than it was. The floors need a good pressure washing and the whole place needs to be deep cleaned. There’s stuff stored in unusual places like under my seat and then there’s no place for feet. I want this place to succeed so I’m offering a kind suggestion on the cleanliness. I loved the books and the whole idea of the book pub.
It was fun we threw a 4th of july party
Great place for a good pint and a book read.
This could become my favorite neighborhood place. It has good beer, good food, and lots and lots of books in a cozy, relaxing space. The physical layout hasn't changed much since it changed owners, but the feel of the place is light years away. It's a public house for private people.
Great pub with good beer and book selection, and tasty food. Fun, laid back vibe.
Books to read or purchase. Cozy nooks. Excellent beers on tap and cocktails. Fantastic patio. Good food and fun snacks (ants on a log!).
I can't believe I didn't know about this place until now! If you are tired of going to bars that are too loud you need to yell to talk to your friends? This is a perfect spot to quietly enjoy a glass of wine/beer and to read books/study. I am definitely coming back here!
The staff here are fantastic and the atmosphere is cozy. This is one of my favorite places in the neighborhood.
Quiet and cozy! I adore this place and ir has very quickly become one of my regular spots. The atmosphere is so welcoming and really promotes a feeling of being in an old rustic library.
Beautiful space with friendly "barbarians" and a warm atmosphere. Will definitely be back!
I had a really great time coming here last night with my girlfriend. It's a great lively place with an amazing selection of books. There is a really nice assortment of beers on tap, I had a delicious porter and also this peach sweet tea mixed drink, both were excellent. It was very fun to wander around the shelves of books and choose various ones to read together. It was a great idea to combine books with a pub, I recommend checking this place out. Enjoyed meeting the owner too, she's great.
Cozy and delicious with great opportunities to get my bookish self on. I only wish it was down the street from me, but this place is worth a 20 minute drive. All their events are so good and I hope to keep supporting until Rose City Book Pub becomes the institution it should be!
This is a wonderful venue if you want to go somewhere where you don't have to shout just to be heard across the table. It's got walls of books, and it has no television. If there's music, it was low enough that I couldn't hear it, and it's full of people who love to read and talk. Their venue calendar is quickly filled because it's such a good place to go, so if you want to hold an event there, make sure you contact the owners well ahead to schedule. The menu is limited, but the food was good.
Great owner! Great food! Great drinks! Perfect addition to Portland! It's a place you MUST visit!
Nice neighborhood spot. Food is decent for the price but unremarkable. Oh the curse of being a foodie! Cute concept with cuddle chairs and blankies.
The reader, David Loftus, did an excellent job of sharing good, hilariously funny stories. He's there monthly.
Great chill place to grab a pint and have a small bite. Really good selection of local craft beers. Very relaxing atmosphere with chairs spaced around the room separated by bookshelves. Also have tea and other drinks for non beer lovers.
This is one of my favorite study spots. Very friendly service. Very quiet. Not a ton of setting but enough space when I went. Prices on the used books are very cheap but you will want to stay so long that you won’t need to take it home. Plenty of variety with their beer on tap.
Rose City Book Pub is an Oregon treasure. From the minute you step inside you will discover you’ve entered a very special place. Book store meet awesome craft beer bar meet restaurant meet community hub. This is a space where people come to hang out, enjoy awesome drinks and food, and make use of the creative and open space offered. Very cool outdoor patio and great book selection. The owner (Elise) aka the “Publician” and crew of staff are super welcoming and fun. This will become your next favorite spot in Portland!
We go almost every week. Super good beer and cider selection and fairly priced too. Very good food on the somewhat limited menu. Grab a game or book while you wait for food. Nice place and nice staff.
Absolutely amazing. Whoever thought to combine books and beer is a genius. This is now my favorite bar. My fiance and I had an absolutely lovely time here. We've told all our friends. Thank you for opening such a lovely place. If i could give you 800/5 stars I would
Such a great place to sit and relax with a good book. Big taplist but a micro costs 6 whole bucks
I had a great time here. It is a great place to read and get some good food and beer. I highly recommend this place. The owner is a really nice lady, and she will go out of her way to take care of you.
Elise is the greatest! The fries are also very good!
I like this place a lot for the atmosphere. I come here for the drinks and the books, not necessarily the food. I dont hate the taste but im not saying i love it either
Great low-key location to hang out. Have a drink or snack, read, work, talk or just hang out. Super friendly staff. Community oriented. What more could you ask for?
Really laid back vibe. Random tomes and overstuffed couches. It is very Portland! Little Hydee holes , grab a drink and settle in, so relaxing and the outdoor patio was open where the old ginkgo tree blooms.
Great vibe, good beer selection and yummy food plus books and games!
